Canadian GP: Free Practice 1 - Re-Cap & Times

CANADIAN GRAND PRIX - FREE PRACTICE #1

    While there is rain in the forecast for Sunday, there was definitely none for the first day of running in Canada. The sun was out and temperatures were just right. Mercedes topped the session, with Hamilton in 1st and Rosberg in 2nd. Sebastian Vettel rounded up the top 3 in the Ferrari.

    Felipe Massa crashed into the barriers near the Wall Of Champions mid-session, causing the only red flags of the day. Massa emerged from the car without injuries, but his session was over.

    Jenson Button was sidelined for most of the session due to an oil leak. The team managed to get him back out but there was instantly another problem upon firing up the car. People near the scene reported the smell of burning oil and there was smoke surrounding the car. Kevin Magnussen also had technical issues during the session, but both drivers were still able to set times.

    Max Verstappen was given a reprimand after the session due to impeding Bottas. Verstappen had slowed dangerously, in front of the Williams driver and the stewards investigated the situation promptly.
