Australian GP: Circuit Preview

It's time to take a look at the first circuit of the year. The first race of the year is always thrilling. New drivers, new cars and new rules always makes for an interesting season opener.

"Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit" is located in Albert Part, Melbourne, Australia and is currently the host of the Season-Opener for Formula 1 Racing. The circuit first opened November 20th 1953.

It runs Clockwise and is 3.295 miles in length, with a capacity of 80,000. There are 16 turns and the current lap total for the race on this circuit is 57.

In 2014, Lewis Hamilton started on Pole but it was Nico Rosberg who won the first race of the year while Ricciardo came second and Magnussen third. However, Ricciardo was later disqualified from the race, promoting Magnussen to second and Jenson Button to third.

Retirements inclded: Romain Grosjean (Power Unit), Pastor Maldonado (Power Unit), Marcus Ericsson (Oil Pressure), Sebastian Vettel (Engine Failure), Lewis Hamilton (Engine Failure), Felipe Massa (Collision), and Kamui Kobayashi (Collision)
