BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX - FREE PRACTICE #1
The second race of the season brings a change to McLaren's line-up with Belgian GP2 Championship winner, Stoffel Vandoorne, replacing Fernando Alonso. Alonso did not pass FIA medical checks upon arriving in Bahrain and he revealed fractured ribs. Vandoorne was in Japan when he got the call to head to Bahrain to fill in for the injured Alonso.
Force India let Alfonso Celis Jr. to get his chance behind the wheel in this session, taking over for Sergio Perez, who is now in his 3rd year at Force India. Nico Hulkenberg finished the session in 6th, just outside of the top 5.
It was both Mercedes drivers at the top of the time sheets in this session, with Nico Rosberg on top. The third fastest driver was Kimi Raikkonen, followed by Ricciardo and Kvyat to round out the top 5.
