Japanese GP: Free Practice 2 - Re-Cap & Times

JAPANESE GRAND PRIX - FREE PRACTICE #2

It was another Mercedes 1-2 in the 2nd free practice session of the weekend. Rosberg once again took the top spot but with an even quicker time than he had in FP1. This time around it was a 1:32.250. Hamilton finished the session in 2nd with a 1:32.322. Raikkonen, Verstappen and Vettel completed the top 5.

Daniil Kvyat had a huge spin during the session and nearly had his Toro Rosso in  the barriers. But the car spun twice and ended up facing the right way on track. He was able to continue on, but it was a near miss. Kvyat reported multiple issues with his car during the session, including a possible engine problem.

Esteban Gutierrez found his session over early when his car gave out and he had to pull over and park the car in the grass. Haas confirmed the problem as an issue with the turbo engine. Esteban's team-mate, Romain Grosjean, reported multiple issues with his brakes during the session.
