Free Practice 2 - Re-Cap & Results

As we head into the second day of the Russian GP Weekend, it's time to go over what happened in FP2. As we know, during the first session, most drivers were struggling to find grip and to get a good feel for the circuit. Let's not forget, all the drivers are on equal terms with the circuit, as none have ever raced at Sochi before. 

This session had much faster times and if any team is really getting along with the layout of Sochi, it's McLaren. The team performed well in both FP1 and FP2, although no one could beat the Mercedes having the number 1 top time in both sessions. In FP1 it was Rosberg and in FP2 it was Hamilton. Rosberg however struggled in the second session, only finishing 4th.

At the end of the session, Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull came to halt and the Session was Red Flagged so that the car could be safely removed from the circuit. If a component that h's already used 5 of has to be changed, he will go into Qualifying with a 10-Place-Grid-Penalty. Hulkenberg has a 5-place one for a gearbox change and Maldonado carries over the last 5 of his 10-place penalty that he was only able to serve half of at Suzuka.
