Not only is he the first American to drive in F1 since 2007, but he made his debut at one of the trickiest circuits and finished 14th. Frances Fry (Assistant Writer) - My star driver of the Singapore GP weekend is Max Verstappen. The young driver raced with an incredible pace this weekend. It was quite obvious that he felt more confident in the car. This was especially evident in his incredible overtaking which made yet another appearance this weekend.
Despite this high point, the rookie did disobey team orders during the race. When asked to let his team-mate, Sainz, pass him, he swiftly replied with a harsh "No!". I feel this can be overlooked as Verstappen maturely offered an explanation for his actions, stating that he felt he had good pace. Overall, Max Verstappen has matured hugely since the start of the season. Toro Rosso have turned him into a confident and skilled driver that can take a place slyly and suddenly."
